Kentucky Equine Research, in conjunction with Hallway Feeds in Lexington, conducted a study last September at the Keeneland Thoroughbred Yearling Sales where they evaluated the relationship between body size (weight, height and condition score) and sales performance in 294 yearlings. Yearlings that sold for prices above their session median price were significantly heavier, but not fatter than yearlings below the median. RNA yearlings tended to be lighter than those listed as sold and they tended to carry lower condition scores. For a pdf of the full report click here.
