Responding to an appeal made by a New York humane society, KER Team Member Hallway Feeds has donated three tons of horse feed that will go to nourish 177 horses being cared for by the society. The horses were found at a farm in Climax, New York and are in extremely poor body condition. What a Year!
Australian Megan Jones couldn't have had a better start to the 2009 eventing season with both her and her mount Kirby Park Irish Jester receiving many accolades for their outstanding 2008 season. Megan and Jester were awarded the following honors:

There is no slowing down for Megan and Jester. The pair flew to New Zealand to take part in the first of the HSBC FEI World Cup Eventing qualifiers held at Kihikihi in March. Megan and Jester produced an outstanding dressage test and clearly led the field with a score of 38.1. Jones produced faultless cross-country and show jumping rounds to finish on their dressage score, earning $23,000 in prize money.
Megan and Jester will now head to Sydney for the second World Cup qualifying event. The World Cup Finals will be held in Poland later this year.

Bob Baffert Named to Racing Hall of Fame
Bob Baffert, one of the most successful trainers in Thoroughbred racing, has been elected to the National Museum of Racing's Hall of Fame. For his equine champions, Baffert has selected feeds provided by Hallway Feeds, a Kentucky Equine Research Team Member, to meet their nutritional needs. Among the trainer's most outstanding horses are champion two-year-old and three-year-old Silverbulletday; Eclipse Award winners Indian Blessing and Midshipman; Kentucky Derby winners Silver Charm, Real Quiet, and War Emblem; and Horse of the Year Point Given.
Pennfield Feeds Featured in Industry Magazine
KER Team Member Pennfield Feeds is featured in the first issue of SideRoads, a new magazine focusing on the transport aspect of the feed industry. According to an article in the magazine, Pennfield has a fleet of 80 trucks to deliver its equine, dairy, poultry, and specialty feeds. Metered trucks can carry a full load of feed, delivering precise amounts to several customers at multiple sites. The method saves time and fuel by combining trips and increasing driver efficiency.
Sponsored Riders To Compete at Rolex Kentucky
When riders from nine nations meet to challenge the competition at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in late April, the list of contestants will include three individuals sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research or one of its Team Members. Phillip Dutton, Bruce Davidson Sr., and Kim Severson have entered a total of six horses in the event. Pennfield Feeds sponsors these riders, and 2008 champion Dutton is also sponsored by KER. .
