High winds, heavy rains, and oceans of mud met competitors at the Fair Hill International CCI Three-Star Event in Maryland, but top riders put in bold performances to finish in the ribbons. Karen O'Connor riding Mandiba claimed second place in the event and was named Leading Lady Rider to earn the Beale Wright Morris trophy. O'Connor also finished in fifth place with Allstar in the Two-Star division. Phillip Dutton rode Kheops du Quesnay to fourth place in the Three-Star after dropping two rails in the final phase of the event.
