October is the concluding month of the inaugural America's Favorite Equestrian selection process. Kentucky Equine Research is pleased to announce that three of its sponsored equestrians, Mary Jordan (para-dressage), and Chester Weber and Shelly Temple (driving), are among the finalists selected in their chosen disciplines.

The EQUUS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) launched the contest in celebration of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games and the eight international disciplines represented at that competition. The objective is for America's Favorite Equestrian to be an ongoing program with all equestrian disciplines/breeds represented. The winners will be recognized in a permanent "Hall of Fame."

There's still time to cast a ballot for your equestrians of choice before voting ends on October 31, 2011. America's Favorite Equestrians will be selected based on the athletes with the highest number of votes recorded in each of the eight disciplines.

To vote, click www.equusfoundation.org/afe.php. Each vote must be accompanied by a tax-deductible pledge of $5.00 to The EQUUS Foundation. This organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life of horses, promoting the use of horses to enrich the lives of those in need, and educating the public about the horse's unique ability to empower, teach and heal.

The announcement of America's Favorite Equestrians will be made at the Victory Party to be held early in November during the Alltech National Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky. All voters are invited to attend.
