Lisa Coulter, a seasoned reining competitor, will ride her six-year-old stallion Whiz It A Chic in the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup on April 28. Coulter, who is sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER), is a veteran in the sport. She counts on the KER team to help with her horses' nutrition and conditioning needs. "They make it easy for my horses to look and feel great all year long," she said.

Experienced riders, but novices at reining, Olympic three-day event medalists David and Karen O'Connor will compete with other celebrities as well as some of the world's leading reining riders in the $25,000 World Championship Freestyle Reining at the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup on April 28. The O'Connors are also sponsored by KER.

The reining competition will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.

Record numbers of horses are registered to compete in this year's Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington in late April. The international field of riders includes several past Rolex Kentucky champions, Olympic Games veterans, and top national and international eventers. This year's competition will serve as a selection trial to choose the U.S. eventing team for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Phillip Dutton rides for the United States. He is a three-time Olympic veteran with two team gold medals (1996 and 2000) for his native Australia. Dutton was the 2008 Rolex Kentucky CCI**** champion. He is listed to ride Fernhill Eagle and Mighty Nice. Dutton is sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER).

Karen O'Connor also rides for the United States. She is a three-time Olympic veteran with team silver (1996) and bronze (2000) medals. She was the 1999 Rolex Kentucky CCI**** champion and two-time Rolex Kentucky CCI*** champion (1991 and 1997). O'Connor is listed to ride Mr. Medicott and Veronica. She is sponsored by KER and is also a Promise Partner of Pennfield Feeds, a KER Team Member.

Bruce "Buck" Davidson, Jr. rides for the United States. Davidson was a member of the 1999 Pan-American Team and also competed at the World Equestrian Games in 2011. He is listed to ride Titanium and Absolute Liberty. He is a Promise Partner of Pennfield Feeds, a KER Team Member.

Andrew Nicholson rides for New Zealand. He is a six-time Olympic veteran with team silver (1992) and bronze (1996) medals. Nicholson is listed to ride Calico Joe, Shady Grey, and Qwanza. He is sponsored by Blue Grass Horse Feeds, a KER Team Member.

An additional attraction at the Kentucky Horse Park on Rolex weekend is the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup. This is the only three-star reining competition currently scheduled in the U.S. in 2012, and it is expected to draw horses and riders from around the globe. Lisa Coulter, a veteran of the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games who rides for Canada, will compete in the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup. Coulter is sponsored by KER.

After training in warm and sunny Arizona for the winter and showing on the Scottsdale Sun Circuit in January, Lisa Coulter has four horses--Yellow Jersey, Whiz It A Chic, Western Whiz, and Hollywood Aces--ready to compete in FEI events for the 2012 season. Two are horses she's ridden before, but the others are new to her and she has worked on getting to know them and evaluating their performance.  All the horses are owned by Bob Thompson.

The Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup is in Coulter's lineup of premier events for the coming year. For this event she will ride Yellow Jersey, an eight-year-old stallion that she took to the World Finals in Sweden last year, where the pair recorded a top-ten finish. Also on Coulter's calendar are the Cactus Classic in Arizona and the NRBC in Texas.

To keep her horses sound and prevent the sour attitude that can come from overtraining, Coulter, who is sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER), pays careful attention to their work schedules, nutrition, and overall health. She uses KER's supplements EO-3 and Synovate HA to minimize problems with inflammation and support connective tissue and joint function.

Though it's still winter, Lisa Coulter and her horses are already prepping for the spring reining competitions. She plans to compete all four of her horses--Western Whiz, Whiz It A Chic, Yellow Jersey, and Hollywood Aces--at the Arizona Sun Circuit events in Scottsdale. At this venue, several shows take place simultaneously with classes beginning as early as 7:15 a.m., a schedule that can easily stress human and equine participants.

Throughout the rest of the spring season, the Scottsdale Reining Classic in Arizona in March and the National Reining Breeders' Classic in Texas in April will sharpen Coulter and her horses as they get ready for the Kentucky Reining Cup to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in late April. Coulter plans to show Yellow Jersey in this FEI-approved competition.

Coulter is sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER). She is happy with the results she has gotten from KER's products EO-3, an omega-3 fatty acid supplement, and Synovate HA, which supports the health of joints and connective tissue.

As the only female rider competing in the open division of the Oklahoma City Shootout in early December, 2011, Lisa Coulter knew her horse Whiz It A Chic was as ready as he could be for their last reining competition of the season. Sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER), Coulter uses EO-3 and Synovate HA, products that minimize inflammation and support joint health in horses.

With its fast canter circles, spins, and sliding stops, reining is stressful on a horse's muscles and limbs. To train and compete at a high level, Whiz It A Chic needs the nutritional supplements that will allow him to give his best effort. KER provides these and other supplements for athletic horses in many equestrian disciplines.

Coulter had some bad luck at the Shootout and amassed penalties that kept her from placing at the top in the group of 38 competitors. Undaunted, she and her horses are taking a much-needed winter break from their schedule of showing, and will resume training in mid-January.

Lisa Coulter has a month to go before one of the most prestigious competitions of the reining show season. The National Reining Horse Association World Championship Shootout, to be held December 2 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, offers $100,000 in prize money as well as the largest live reining audience in the world. The top U.S. and international competitors will all be present, and the excitement and stress will be at their highest levels.

How does Coulter get ready for this challenge? The best preparation is to develop a winning schedule of training and nutrition, and then stick with it. Coulter, who is sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER), trusts the company's nutritional supplements to keep her horse Whiz It A Chic in top show condition.

"We are preparing for a very high-level class at one of the biggest shows of the year," she said. "My horse looks amazing and has actually gained weight even with the high level of riding he is under while preparing for the event. KER supplements are helping him keep his weight and condition in top form."

To support his training and performance, Whiz It A Chic is supplemented with EO•3 and Synovate HA. Loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, EO-3 is designed to balance the ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in equine diets that are high in grain. Omega-3 fatty acids tend to decrease inflammatory and arthritic changes and to support the immune system in heavily exercised horses.

Synovate HA, a joint supplement containing hyaluronic acid, provides nutritional elements that play a vital role in maintaining the health of connective tissue and optimizing normal joint function.

Lisa Coulter, a reining competitor who is sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER), rode to a win in Las Vegas, Nevada in September. It was Coulter's first competition on Whiz It A Chic, who was sired by Who Whiz It. Owned by Stoney Russell and previously ridden by Todd Sommers, Whiz It A Chic will be shown next by Coulter at The $100,000 Shootout in December.

Coulter also had a string of successes with another horse, Western Whiz, at the Scottsdale Classic in Arizona this fall. The pair placed first in the Intermediate Open and Ladies Open divisions and second in the Open division.

Coulter uses KER's Synovate HA for joint support and EO•3 to provide omega-3 fatty acids, known to boost immune system function and minimize inflammatory responses in horses. She said, "My horses look amazing and feel as good...we credit your products! I get compliments from the elite riders to the entry level riders. I keep spreading the word!"

In front of a capacity crowd, Canada's Lisa Coulter, a reiner sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research (KER), finished eighth in the individual 2011 FEI World Reining Final at Bökebergs Gård, Sweden.
