Harness racing has a strong international following. Trotters and pacers must be solid, well-built horses with good dispositions.

Hallway Feeds, a Kentucky Equine Research Team Member, was represented in the winner's circle at two very different events last weekend.

Harness trainer Noel Daley, a longtime customer of Hallway Feeds, captured first place in the prestigious Hambletonian with Broad Bahn. Daley uses Hallway Feeds' Race 13 exclusively in his stable.

A new customer, show jumper Michael Morrissey won the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Grand Prix aboard Vorst. Morrissey's horses are on Compete 10/10 and Fibrenergy, a new product designed specifically for the sport horse market.

Over the past two decades KER has collaborated with Hallway to design feeds that have raised and fueled many of the legends of Thoroughbred racing. At its state-of-the-art feed mill in Lexington, Ky., Hallway manufactures and distributes premium horse feeds to multiple breeds and disciplines across the United States and to 15 countries abroad.

Kentucky Equine Research (KER) Team Member Barastoc has added harness trainer Luke McCarthy to its roster of sponsored equestrians.

McCarthy recently returned to New South Wales with his stable of horses, including Motu Crusader and former North American star Mr Feelgood. Both are set to contest the upcoming Grade 1 $200,000 Chariots Of Fire. McCarthy hopes to break the time of 1:50 for the first time in Australia.

Barastoc is Australia's leading brand for high-performance livestock feed and nutritional products. Barastoc has been an official KER Team Member for 10 years, and together the companies provide the best possible equine nutrition solutions for riders and trainers throughout Australia.

Following his record-breaking win in the Group I 2009 Inter Dominion, Sundon's Gift has been invited to race in the world's richest trotting race, the Elitlopp held in Sweden. The Elitlopp is the Kentucky Derby or Melbourne Cup of the trotting industry, and only 20 horses from around the globe are invited to take part in this prestigious race.

Trainer Chris Lang ensures that the reigning Australian Trotter of the Year receives his daily Glucos-A-Flex™ and Preserve™ in order to keep the seven-year-old gelding at his peak. Sundon's Gift will race at the Solvalla racetrack in Stockholm on May 31. Everyone at KER would like to wish Chris and Sharon Lang the best of luck with Sundon's Gift in Sweden.

Canadian-owned and bred Stylish Artist won the $650,000 Breeder's Crown Final for pacing fillies at the Meadowlands on November 24, 2007. The filly took an early lead, then dropped back, and while holding the rail the George Brennan-driven filly won with a late charge for her fifth win in 11 starts. Stylish Artist is proudly owned by Mark Steacy, Peter Heffering and David Reid.

Stylish Artist is a product of the Tara Hills Farm breeding program near Port Perry Ontario. Tara Hills is a long-time valued customer of Brooks Performance Horse Feeds and a participant in the Growth Tracking program offered by Brooks Performance Horse Feeds to monitor the development of young horses.

Mark Steacy, who has conditioned several champions while using Brooks Performance Horse Feeds, trains Stylish Artist. With this win, the filly has banked $497,763 as a two-year-old.

Brooks Performance Horse Feeds is proud to supply the feed for champions like Stylish Artist and work with successful horsemen like Mark Steacy.

Many leading Standardbred trainers trust Brooks Feed Store in Ontario, Canada to give their equine athletes the nutrients and energy they need to race and win. Among the Brooks enthusiasts:

  • Mark Steacy, trainer of Majestic Son, winner of the Canadian Breeders Championship: "I'm very happy with Phase III by KER and Brooks Performance Feeds. It's a nice clean sweet feed with just the right amount of protein."
  • John Bax, who trained Oaklea Odessa and Oaklea Omega to a one-two finish in the OSS Final for three-year-old trotting fillies at Hiawatha Horse Park: "I feed both the pellet and the sweet feed form of Phase III. My horses love the taste, which helps them carry good flesh."
  • Barry and Laurie Clarke, owners and trainers of Nobananas. As a five-year-old, the gelding set a new track record at London Fair Raceway, and won again at the same track just a week later. The trotter is fueled by Competition Plus and Flax Appeal, an omega-3 supplement. "Nobananas has lots of stamina, he finishes strong, and he recovers very quickly after a race."
