Gro-Trac, Equine Growth Tracking Program
Foal and Growth Charts

Compare growth rates of young horses

Gro-Trac is the first equine growth-monitoring software that allows breeders to compare the growth rates of their stock with those of young horses of similar age, sex, and breed. By using a database of growth records created by Kentucky Equine Research over the past decade, breeders can quickly assess how their young horses stack up against other horses of the same sex and age. The database is arranged in reference groups and includes the weights, heights, and average daily gains of thousands of foals, weanlings, and yearlings. Farm averages can also be calculated and measured against a desired reference group.

View information in a variety of ways

Screenshot of Growth Graph

Weight and height statistics can be displayed graphically for quick visual assessment of growth. Graphs show the growth curve for the young horse as well as the reference group of choice. In addition, photographs can be imported into the program to show changes from month to month. Pertinent comments can also be added to the program at any time. Such comments may be necessary to explain a slowdown in growth such as following weaning or during an illness. Symbols signifying the presence of a photograph or comment will appear on the graph at the time each was entered. These features create an ongoing history of each foal, making Gro-Trac a valuable communication tool for owners who cannot see their horses regularly but like to keep abreast of their development. For instance, easy-to-read, customized reports can be printed from the program. Reports may include growth curves, charts, photographs, and comments regarding a specific horse.

No scale?

Kentucky Equine Research offers horse scales.Because it is difficult to visually assess changes in growth and weight, equine scales and growth tracking software are valuable tools for the conscientious horse owner, trainer, manager, or rider. For more information click here.

Comprehensive monitoring

No other computer software monitors equine growth as comprehensively as Gro-Trac. Ward off skeletal problems with steady growth and add a new dimension to young horse management with Gro-Trac.
