As a company grows, so too must its staff. With business interests popping up worldwide, Kentucky Equine Research (KER) has met the demand by bolstering its technical team.
The company was founded nearly 25 years ago by Joe Pagan, PhD. As a fledging company, KER had a modest technical staff of two full-time equine nutritionists, each of whom had earned advanced degrees.
During the next several years, word of KER's commitment to the feed industry spread, and the upsurge in business required a larger staff to properly support the company's clients. Now, two decades later, the full-time staff includes three equine nutritionists, each with a PhD, and two veterinarians. In addition to these professionals, quite a few other employees have earned advanced degrees in agriculture. The combined education and experience of these individuals outweighs those of any equine-only nutrition company in the world.
Clarissa Brown-Douglas, PhD, a KER employee since 2005, relishes the team atmosphere at the company. "The KER technical team has such a diverse range of backgrounds and experience; it makes me extremely confident that we are able to provide the most thorough, up-to-date, and detailed advice to any horseperson."
The most recent addition to the technical team is Bryan Waldridge, DVM. He oversees all aspects of the company's research farm. In addition to supervising current research, he develops additional research projects for publication in peer-reviewed journals, cooperating with individuals and universities around the world. He also serves as part of the technical support network for KER Team Members that manufacture feeds for top horses around the world.
