Catherine Whitehouse earned a BSc (honors) degree in equine science at Lincoln University in England, where she prepared a dissertation on seasonal changes in non-structural carbohydrate accumulation in pasture grasses as related to the etiology of laminitis. Following her year as a research intern, she is considering a career in product formulation and development with the racing industry as a target market. Her long-term goal is to improve the welfare and lengthen the athletic careers of racehorses.
