These non-heating rations are manufactured from fixed formulations, so consistent high-quality nutrition is found in every bag. Cooling Mix does not contain oats and the maize and barley are micronized to increase their digestibility and maintain optimum digestive tract health and function. The feeds are completely fortified, supplying horses and ponies with over 25 different minerals, vitamins, and trace elements. Each of the feeds in this range is highly palatable. To encourage fussy feeders Cooling Mix contains a range of herbs known for their digestive benefits.

In this range, Sports Horse Mix and Pencils are suitable for horses in medium to hard work. For horses involved in more intense work including polo, eventing, trotting or National Hunt, Speed Mix or Pencils will deliver the high-octane fuel needed by the ‘go faster’ athletic horse. Each batch is manufactured from a fixed formulation that ensures consistent top-notch nutrition is found in each and every bag. Energy is supplied from highly digestible fibre sources such as alfalfa pellets and soluble carbohydrates from cereals such as oats, maize and barley help to keep muscle glycogen stores ‘topped up’ and to reduce the onset of fatigue in the performance horse. Vegetable-based fats such as soya oil have dual functions. Not only do these fats add calories to the diet, but they also add bloom and lustre to the coat. Each feed in this range is completely fortified with essential vitamins and minerals for the equine athlete. All feeds in the Performance Range contain chelated (Bioplex) minerals, which are more readily available to the horse during the digestive process than inorganic minerals. Enduro-100 meets the specific nutrient demands of endurance horses and maximises the use of super fibres and oils necessary for sustained energy release. Super fibres create a water and electrolyte reservoir in the hindgut that long-distance equine athletes can draw from during training sessions and competitions. This fibre-rich concentrate also aids in gastrointestinal mobility. Enduro-100 contains a balanced vitamin and mineral profile. The addition of yeast increases calcium and phosphorus absorption.

The feeds in this range are ideal for preparing horses for sales or the show ring. These oat-free formulations are designed to help increase the condition of horses while also helping to maintain a steady and trainable temperament. These feeds are nutrient dense and calories are derived from complex carbohydrates, highly digestible fibre sources, and oils. Long-stem fibre sources promote gastrointestinal health. Soya oil adds gloss to the coat and elasticity to the skin. The protein content of Show Improver Mix and Show Ring Mix comes from high-quality alfalfa and micronised soya beans, both of which encourage muscle development and improve muscle tone. Show Improver Mix and Show Ring Mix are fully fortified with essential vitamins and minerals. Bio-Life 2000 is a nutrient-packed feed balancer intended to be fed in small amounts. Inclusion of yeast maintains optimal microbial activity of the hindgut, which in turn maximises forage and feed utilisation. Minerals are chelated to ensure efficiency of absorption. Bio-Life 2000 can be fed alone, with straights, or with other compound feeds. Equi-Jewel is a high-fat, heat-stabilised rice bran product that contains a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio. Equi-Jewel adds calories to the diet without increasing grain intake and eliminates the inconvenience of feeding liquid fat supplements.

Highly digestible fibre forms the energy basis for the feeds in this range, thereby making them safe to feed. Fibre also helps to maintain a healthy digestive system, particularly in digestively compromised horses or those that are temperamentally sensitive. Soya oil is added to each feed in this range to increase non-heating energy density and to boost skin and coat condition. These feeds contain reduced levels of starch and sugars to help reduce the incidence of problems related to laminitis or starch overload. Oat grains are not included in the formulation of Fibre Mix, Veteran Mix, and Veteran Pencils, but each of these feeds includes herbs claimed to aid digestive, respiratory, and healing processes. Each feed is fully fortified with the necessary vitamins, minerals, and trace elements critical for maximal health. Furthermore, Veteran Mix contains a natural source of vitamin E, E Max Ester, which is preferentially absorbed when compared to traditional synthetic sources of vitamin E. This delivers superior antioxidant protection and helps to support optimum immune function. Re-Leve is the ideal feed for horses with recurrent exertional rhabdomyolysis or tying-up. Re-Leve contains low levels of starch, a dietary component known to exacerbate the incidence of tying-up. Energy is derived from alternative energy sources that were selected primarily for their low starch content. Re-Leve is fully fortified with vitamins and minerals necessary for the equine athlete. Re-Leve may also be used for growing horses.

Saracen Horse Feeds stud range is unique in that it provides a specific feed for all stages of reproduction, lactation and growth. Easily digestible energy sources and top-quality protein sources pave the way for proper foal development and nutrient-rich milk production. Macro- and micronutrients, including Bioplex minerals, ensure the creation of a strong skeletal framework in the foal. Mare-Care has been specifically formulated to provide a range of highly digestible raw materials to ensure optimum provision of energy, protein, vitamins and minerals to the broodmare during late pregnancy and lactation. This premium ration also provides natural vitamin E, and optimum balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and mannanoligosaccharides, which have been proven to stimulate and support the mare’s immune system. The two feeds in the Stallion Plan program, Covering Mix and Off- Season Mix, are designed specifically for breeding stallions. They provide a mixture of energy sources that include fat, digestible fibre, and soluble carbohydrates. In addition, these fortified feeds contain natural vitamin E, carnitine, zinc, and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, all of which can positively impact fertility. Foal Starter Mix is perfect for jumpstarting the gastrointestinal tract of a foal prior to weaning. Although foals develop normally on a milk diet in the first few months of life, supplemental nutrition can produce a significant growth response in foals. As milk production of the mare declines, a foal with access to Foal Starter Mix will maintain a consistent level of nutrition and growth, and should not experience a slump in development, which is often the case in foals that do not receive creep feed. Yearling Mix is a cost-effective youngstock diet that is designed to encourage daily weight gain with optimum skeletal and muscle development. Grains included in both feeds have been micronised, a process that enhances the digestibility of nutrients within them. Absorption of vitamins and chelated minerals is heightened with the addition of yeast culture. Level Grow Mix and Pencils have been thoroughly researched and have been proven to produce a low glycemic response. Glycemic response has been linked to developmental disorders in young growing stock; thus Level Grow has been formulated to help reduce the risk of these and encourage correct and sound growth. Level Grow is also useful in managing broodmares that have a tendency to become overweight through pregnancy.

Race 13 and Racing Prep 14 are high-energy feeds formulated exclusively for the equine athlete. Each contains highly digestible fibre, a sustained source of slow-release energy. The formulas also include soya oil, a concentrated source of energy. Both sweet feeds are rich in complex carbohydrates, nutrients that can be broken down immediately to glucose to provide instant energy. For the straight oat feeder, the use of Kentucky Racing Balancer will deliver many of the benefits of the above two sweet feeds. Bioplex trace elements, including bioavailable magnesium for increased muscle strength, ensure proper metabolic function and skeletal and muscular development. Yeast culture is included to increase the microbial activity and enzyme production in the hindgut, which increases the absorption of phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and the digestion of fibre. For horses that have been placed on rest or light work, Recoup 11 is a palatable, fully fortified sweet feed that contains highly digestible fibres such as soya hulls, alfalfa, and beet pulp. This combination of ingredients guarantees that horses remain manageable during their convalescence. Re-Coup 11 is also suitable for use during the initial pre-training programme and helps to ensure a smooth transition on to the other racing diets as training progresses.
