Brumfield Aids Storm Relief Effort

Brumfield Hay and Grain, a Kentucky Equine Research Team Member, is accepting donations of feed, hay, and equipment to help with disaster support in the Kentucky-Indiana area where last week's tornadoes caused widespread destruction of houses and farm buildings.
Horse owners and other interested people are asked to donate feed products, baled hay and straw, and shavings as well as any type of animal care equipment. Buckets, brushes, halters, lead shanks, grooming tools, rakes, shovels, tack, and so on are all needed. Some storm victims have lost everything and are starting over, so all items, new and used, will be put to a good purpose.
Food and equipment for dogs and cats is also being accepted. All collected materials will be delivered to the disaster area, with the first truckloads being taken to recipients on March 9 and as frequently as necessary thereafter.
For more information, please call Brumfield Hay and Grain in Lexington, Kentucky, at 859-255-0788.

Hallway Feeds Fuel Multiple Stakes Winners

A good start is essential in any endeavor, and optimal nutrition of stallions, broodmares, and foals is a key factor in producing the best young horses. On the Thoroughbred Times list of the top ten farms of 2006, Hallway Feeds and Brumfield Hay and Grain provide feed to five: Claiborne, Pin Oak, Overbrook, WinStar, and Lane's End. Need more proof? In the first year of its Breeders' Incentive Fund, Kentucky sent the two largest checks to Overbrook and WinStar. The bonus goes to breeders or breeding partnerships and is based on race results for 2006.
